Program and Communications Manager
Position Overview
The Program and Communications Manager is a dual-role position responsible for overseeing ministry programs from start to finish while managing the church’s communication strategy. This role ensures that all ministry programs align with the church’s mission and that clear, engaging, and consistent communication is delivered to the congregation and broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
• Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all ministry programs.
• Work closely with ministry leaders to ensure programs are executed with excellence and meet strategic goals.
• Develop timelines, manage resources and ensure adherence to each plan.
• Manage coordination of volunteers and staff involvement to ensure programs are adequately supported.
• Assess program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and data.
• Schedule and lead regular planning meetings with ministry leaders and volunteers to align on event goals, timelines, and responsibilities.
• Facilitate clear, action-oriented meetings by setting agendas, assigning tasks, and establishing deadlines for event-related projects.
• Monitor progress during meetings to ensure accountability and resolve any challenges or roadblocks in the planning process.
• Follow up after meetings with detailed action plans and updates to keep teams on track and informed.
Communications Management
• Collaborate with the Senior Director to understand and align with the overall vision and goals for church communications.
• Translate the Senior Director’s vision into actionable communication strategies and plans for all ministry areas.
• Oversee the creation and execution of content across all platforms, ensuring consistency with the established vision and tone.
• Regularly report progress, share updates, and gather feedback from the Senior Director to refine and enhance communication efforts.
• Manage day-to-day communication operations, including scheduling, content creation, and team coordination, to ensure the vision is effectively implemented
• Manage content for all communication platforms, including the church website, social media, email newsletters, and printed materials.
• Ensure all messaging aligns with the church’s mission, tone, and brand.
• Act as a liaison between ministry leaders and creative teams to manage promotional materials and campaigns for events and programs.
• Track engagement metrics and adjust communication strategies to increase reach and impact.
Collaboration & Leadership
• Act as a central point of contact for ministry leaders to ensure unity in program development and communication.
• Build and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers, and external vendors to ensure efficient program execution and communication delivery.
• Lead regular meetings to align ministries and departments.
• Train staff and volunteers on communication tools and best practices.
Qualifications

Educational Background
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, ministry, organizational leadership is preferred but not required.
• Relevant experience in communications, ministry, leadership, or a related field can serve as a valuable substitute for formal education, demonstrating the skills and expertise necessary for success in this role.
Experience
• 3-5 years of experience in program management, communications, or ministry leadership, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting.
• Proven track record of successfully managing programs and communication strategies.
• Experience in coordinating/managing events, staff and volunteers.
• Familiarity with digital communication platforms and tools (social media, email marketing, website management).
Skills & Competencies
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in communication tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, WordPress, or similar platforms.
• Adept at creating engaging and effective content for multiple audiences.
• Strong understanding of marketing principles and how they apply to ministry.
• Proficient in using church management systems, project management software, and analytics tools.

Social Media Specialist
Job Title: Social Media Specialist
Reports To: Creative Senior Director
Position Type: Part-Time, Contract Employee
Job Overview:
We are seeking a creative and highly motivated Social Media Specialist to execute and manage our church’s online presence. The ideal candidate will create and implement engaging content that aligns with the church’s mission and vision, building meaningful connections with our community and beyond. This role requires on-site availability to capture and execute content, along with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail. While this position involves being on-site for services and events, the specialist is not expected to execute weekly posts while on-site outside of those times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation and Posting:
- Create and post a minimum of three engaging Instagram Reels each week that align with the weekly message and church events.
- Manage and schedule one post per day across all relevant social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
- Storytelling and Engagement:
- Be physically present at the church to capture, manage, and execute Instagram Stories during services, events, and other activities.
- Highlight ministry moments, behind-the-scenes content, and engaging worship moments.
- Media Management:
- Upload and organize all event and service photos into Flickr or a similar platform for church-wide use.
- Assist with capturing and editing weekly content for thumbnails, sermon recaps, and announcements.
- Event Coverage and Recaps:
- Provide social media coverage during major events, ensuring stories, reels, and posts are aligned with the church’s messaging.
- Create a weekly recap post summarizing key moments from services and events.
- Collaboration and Scheduling:
- Work closely with the Creative Director and ministry leaders to align content with weekly sermon themes and church goals.
- Schedule and post all informational content provided by the Communications Manager, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to the congregation.
- Volunteer Development:
- Work alongside the social media host teams during on-site times to help train and develop volunteers, empowering them to contribute to the church’s social media efforts effectively.
- Engagement Strategy:
- Develop and execute a strategy for maximizing engagement and reach across platforms.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, with a strong understanding of their features (Reels, Stories, etc.).
- Basic photo and video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.
- Strong storytelling and communication skills, with an eye for detail and creativity.
- Experience in photography, including capturing high-quality photos during live events.
- Familiarity with content management platforms like Flickr or Google Photos.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- A passion for the church’s mission and vision, with a heart for reaching people through digital ministry.
Work Schedule:
- On-site availability for Sunday services and occasional evening or weekend events.
- Flexible hours to accommodate content creation, posting, and engagement throughout the week.
- Not expected to execute weekly posts while on-site outside of services or events.
Compensation:
- Part-time contract rate commensurate with experience and church budget.
